Asserting that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would emerge as a strong alternative in Punjab, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday (February 21, 2026) said that drug abuse in the State has risen sharply over the past few years, taking a heavy toll on the younger generation.

Stressing that keeping youth away from addiction is the need of the hour, Mr. Saini blamed the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for failing to curb drug menace. He asserted that the BJP remains fully committed to safeguarding its future.

The Chief Minister was addressing a programme here to raise awareness against drug abuse. He said in Haryana, strict action is being taken against those involved in the illegal drug trade and their properties are also being attached. “Special awareness campaigns are being conducted in universities and educational institutions,” he added.

Mr. Saini blamed the AAP government in Punjab for failing to fulfill the promises it made ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections, saying it has fallen short of meeting the aspirations of the people of Punjab.

He said the law and order and situation has collapsed in Punjab. “Strengthening law and order in Punjab to ensure peace, security and stability will be a priority for the BJP. The BJP will crack down hard on drugs and crime in Punjab,” he said.
