DMK leader Kanimozhi, participating in the ongoing discussion in Lok Sabha on Friday (April 17, 2026), demanded that the Women’s Reservation Act be implemented from 2029 with the same 543 seats.

Calling for the removal of delimitation exercise as a pre-condition for women’s quota, she alleged that the BJP is using the women of India as a “human shied” for its electoral ambitions. “These three Bill disguised as if they are in support of women’s reservation constitute the single greatest assault on Indian federal structure,” she said, speaking to oppose the Bills on behalf of the DMK.
