BJP publishes first list of candidates for Kozhikode Corporation

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a list of 45 candidates to contest from various divisions of the Kozhikode Corporation in the forthcoming local body polls. Former State president of the party K. Surendran announced the first set of candidates at a press meet here on Tuesday (November 11).

Among the candidates are Ratnakumar P.K. (2-Chettikulam), Chitrakala K. (4-Puthur), Joshi Chandran (5-Mokavoor), Anoop K. Arjun (9-Thadambattuthazham), Athira M. (10-Vengeri), Sudheesh Kumar M.C. (11-Poolakkadavu), Rekha Shaji (15-Vellimadukunnu), Krishnendu T.K. (16-Moozhikkal), Ramya P. (17-Chelavoor), Subramanyan K. (18-Mayanad), Radhika teacher (19-Medical College South), Rajitha C. (20-Medical College), Surendran P. (24-Kudilthode), Bindu Udayakumar (27-Puthiyara), Indira Krishnan Moosath (28-Kuthiravattam), T. Rinish (29-Pottammal), Mini Suresh (31- Kuttiyilthazham), Subija Pramod (32-Methottuthazham), Vidya Shaiju (33-Pokkunnu), Ribith M. (34- Kinasseri), Ratheesh P. (37-Kallai), Nambidi Narayanan (38-Panniyankara), Krishnadas K.M. (41- Areekkad North), Jithesh P.K. (42-Areekkad), Sanjayan U. (45-Kundayithode), K.P. Velayudhan (46-Cheruvannur East), Sreeshna K. (47-Cheruvannur West), Vindhya Sunil (48-Beypore Port), Shiju Pinnanath (49-Beypore ), Jijisha Amarnath (50-Marad), Rama Murali (51-Naduvattam), Shobhita Manikandan (54-Mathottam), Jayasree M. (55-Payyanakkal), Shyni Sunil Kumar (56- Nadi Nagar), Vidya Babeesh (57-Chakkumkadavu), Abdul Razak T. (58-Mukhadar), Jisha Shabareesh (64-Thiruthiyad), Praveen Thaliyil (66-Nadakkavu), Remni Premnath (67-Vellayil), Navya Haridas (70-Karapparamba), Shubhalatha Ramesh (72-Athanikkal), Shobhita Dileep (73-West Hill), Shruthi Sajith (74-Edakkad), Jisha Shiju (75- Puthiyangadi) and Jayasree Ratnakaran (76-Puthiyappa).

Candidates for the remaining 31 seats will be announced within a few days, sources said. BJP Kozhikode city district president Prakash Babu has been projected as a favoured contender for the Mayor’s post. BJP made its debut in the Kozhikode Corporation Council in 2015 with seven seats and managed to retain the same number in 2020. Three candidates in the new list — Nambidi Narayanan, T. Rinish, and Navya Haridas — have previously served as councillors in the Corporation.
