BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran, on Sunday (May 24, 2026), criticised the TVK-led government under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay over the criminal offences, including rape, murder, rowdyism, among other incidents committed in various parts of Tamil Nadu over the past two weeks.

Referring to newspaper reports on such incidents, Mr. Nagenthran, in a social media post charged: “While we thought it was under the erstwhile DMK government, people were under constant fear, but their safety is still questionable even under the TVK government.”

Criticising the TVK government for allegedly having handed Ministership to individuals with criminal antecedents, he said: “If accused persons are made Ministers, how will offences reduce? How will it be a deterrent to criminal elements?”

Mr. Nagenthran charged that the Chief Minister failed to ensure the law and order situation in the State and was instead focusing on publicity and propaganda and it reflected his “inexperience.”

“Will the Chief Minister realise that he could seek time only for administrative affairs but had to act swiftly with regard to law and order situation,” he asked.
