The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took aim at Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, and his wife, alleging that bribes up to ₹5 crore were being demanded through middlemen in the State to withdraw rape cases.

The accusation came days after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took cognisance of allegations that the Chief Minister’s wife sought ₹5 crore to suppress a rape case.

At a press conference, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that audio recordings had surfaced in Punjab, revealing that a new “loot and corruption racket” was being run in the State. He described it as “AAP Loot Model”.

Mr. Bhandari mentioned a rape case accused who was arrested on May 13 and granted bail on July 10. He referred to three audio recordings, raising questions about the alleged role of the Chief Minister’s office, and sought a clarification from Mr. Kejriwal and Mr. Mann.
