Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin said that Nitish Kumar brought Bihar out of the ‘lantern era’ and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government will continue to follow the roadmap laid by him.

Mr. Nabin said this at Patna’s Bapu Sabhagar on the concluding day of fifth phase of Samriddhi Yatra after Mr. Kumar reached the State capital from Nalanda, his home town.

Sharing the dais with the Chief Minister, he heaped praise on him saying that Mr. Kumar successfully steered Bihar out of an era of despair, infusing it with a renewed sense of confidence and linking it firmly to the path of development.

He asserted that Mr. Kumar undertook the vital task of restoring the dignity and self-respect of the people of Bihar.

“Through his ‘Samriddhi Yatra,’ Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has created an atmosphere of celebration and festivity across Bihar. The state will now continue its journey of development, moving forward amidst this very spirit of celebration,”Mr. Nabin said.

He added that, as an MLA, he too had the privilege of learning under the leadership of Mr. Kumar.

Mr. Nabin, who is also going to Rajya Sabha along with Mr. Kumar announced that it might be his final official government engagement as an MLA.

He assured the people of Patna that he remains committed to further accelerating the development of both Patna and Bihar—building upon the new dimensions established by the Chief Minister—with the continued support and assistance of the Central Government in the days to come.

Attacking the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mr. Nabin said that during their era, providing electricity to every household in Bihar was like a dream.

“Today, we have moved ahead and past the era of the ‘lantern’ (kerosene lamp) anf the government has successfully ensured that modern LED lighting reaches every single home. The credit for electricity reaching every household goes to CM Nitish Kumar,” Mr. Nabin said.

He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi also deserves gratitude for the manner in which a “double-engine” government was formed after 2014, ensuring that Bihar received the full support of the Central Government.

The BJP national president stressed that Bihar will always remain indebted to Nitish Kumar for the immense contribution he has made toward building a “New Bihar.”

Accompanied by both Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, he declared, “while the ‘Samriddhi Yatra’ may be concluding today, but the NDA government will strictly follow the developmental roadmap laid by the Chief Minister and will realise the dream of a ‘Developed Bihar’ by the year 2030.”

“If women and sisters in the state are successfully managing their households while simultaneously working outside the home, the credit for this, too, goes Mr. Kumar.

Earlier, when the ‘Jungle Raj’ in Bihar was discussed, the people of the state had to hang their heads in shame; however, times have changed today. Now, the people of Bihar are receiving respect,” Mr. Nabin said.

Mr. Kumar on the other hand said that Bihar will continue to move forward and everything will be fine.

In Nalanda, people shouted slogans in support of Mr. Kumar urging him not to leave Bihar by going to Rajya Sabha. The first phase of Yatra began on March 10 from Supaul and Madhepura.

On the last day Mr. Kumar inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth ₹2183 crore in two districts.
