The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) on Friday conducted a mega parent-teacher-meet across its 430 government junior colleges in the State. According to officials, over 50,000 parents participated in the meeting, interacted with teachers and principals to take stock of their ward’s attendance, performance, exam preparedness, and ongoing works in respective colleges. College principals, officials said, informed parents about the recent measures taken up by the State government, such as an allocation of ₹56.16 crore for repairs, whitewashing, and installation of green boards, and another ₹10.25 crore for renovations. Colleges were also sanctioned ₹49.63 crore for construction of new toilets, classrooms, and buildings in 300 government junior colleges. Additionally, colleges have been receiving regular maintenance funds to ensure clean premises. Towards science laboratories ₹50,000 and ₹10,000 for sports materials were sanctioned to each college, officials said. As of January 2026, it was informed that all government junior colleges are equipped with two interactive flat panels, two interactive digital projectors, internet connectivity, and Zoom facilities.
The BIE has also been providing free online coaching for competitive exams such as JEE, NEET, and CLAT in collaboration with Physics Wallah and Khan Academy.
