Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao found empty liquor bottles lying in the premises of the Madhurawada Primary Health Centre during a surprise inspection recently. The visit was conducted as part of the Swachh Andhra-Swarnandhra programme.

During the inspection, the legislator pulled up the hospital staff and questioned how patients could maintain faith in the healthcare facility under such conditions.

Local residents informed the MLA that cattle regularly stray into the hospital grounds and that anti-social elements use the premises to consume alcohol at night.

Residents also complained of a stench caused by garbage dumped directly in front of the hospital.

The MLA inspected the wards and spoke to patients to assess the medical services being provided.

Mr. Srinivasa is said to have subsequently spoken to the medical officers and expressed his dissatisfaction over the lack of cleanliness and the standard of patient services.

From the hospital itself, the legislator contacted the District Medical and Health Officer and instructed the official to rectify the shortcomings immediately and improve the overall healthcare facilities.

He also requested police personnel to actively monitor the health centre premises during their night beats, to prevent further trespassing by anti-social elements.
