The Sakleshpur Rural Police have registered a case against a Bengaluru-based realtor for allegedly attempting to run over police personnel on duty, including a probationary IPS officer, on the Sakleshpur-Hanablu Road on Saturday (May 16).

The case has been registered against Kiran, 31, a realtor based at Rachenahalli in Bengaluru. Shubham S. Pawar, a probationary IPS officer in charge of Sakleshpur Rural Station, was on duty along with support staff around 5.30 p.m. on the day the incident occurred.

When the staff signalled to Kiran to stop the vehicle on the officer’s instructions, he allegedly accelerated and attempted to ram them. The staff narrowly escaped and managed to bring the vehicle to a halt, but Kiran pushed the personnel aside and sped away.

The police traced the vehicle through the Motor Vehicles Crime Tracking and Notification System (MCTNS) and registered a case based on the statement of civil police constable Chethan. Kiran has been charged with attempt to murder, among other offences.
