The Department of Posts has transported a rare and high-value Thanjavur painting of Lord Ram from Bengaluru to Ayodhya. This marks a first-of-its-kind specialised logistics operation under its Logistics Post service.

The sacred artwork, executed in the traditional Thanjavur style with a gold base inlaid with precious and semi-precious stones, was donated by Bengaluru-based Jayashree Phaneesh to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra in Ayodhya.

Measuring 12 feet by 8 feet and weighing close to 800 kg, the large-format painting was packed in a specially fabricated wooden crate with multiple layers of bubble wrapping. The entire planning, from loading to final delivery, was carried out under continuous supervision.

The vehicle set out from Bengaluru on December 17 and covered nearly 1,900 km before reaching Ayodhya on December 22. Loading and unloading was carried out using cranes and specialised restraints to prevent any damage to the artwork.
