Officers of the Excise Department of Karnataka will conduct an e-auction of excise licences of various types across the State from January 13, 2026. They include 99 CL-9 licenses and 477 CL-2 licenses, and will be valid till the year 2029-30.
On December 23, Joint Commissioner of the Excise Department Fakirappa Chalwadi told reporters in Bagalkot that these processes are being held as per recent government orders.
Bagalkot district will see bidding for outlets in Bagalkot, Badami, Bilagi, Hungund, Jamkhandi and Mudhol. The charter in Badami is reserved for bidders from ST communities.
The government of Karnataka has fixed the base price for the charters in the range of ₹70 lakh to ₹90 lakh. Bidders can raise it by ₹20 lakh. Those participating in the auction must first pay an EMD amount of ₹1.60 lakh for each charter.
Registration for the auction started on December 22. The auction for Bagalkot district will be held on January 16, 2026 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. A training session about the e-auction has been held in Bagalkot for prospective bidders, he said.
Deputy Commissioner of Excise V.N. Thippeswamy, Superintendent of Excise Hanamanthappa Bhajantri and other Excise Department officials were present.
