Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Thursday said Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC-1) project, earlier called Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), would be completed in a year and a half. He also said that 650 people have agreed to part with their land for the project.

Mr. Shivakumar reviewed the progress of land acquisition for the project and distributed compensation to the affected landowners.

The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), the implementing agency, is offering compensation through four options: cash compensation, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), Floor Area Ratio (FAR), and developed commercial sites. Landowners can also opt for sites in one of the layouts developed by the BDA.

“We have already paid compensation to 400 land losers, and the rest will be issued soon. Many people are opting for the commercial site (65%-35%) scheme,” Mr. Shivakumar said.

Explaining how TDR would be issued based on jurisdiction, Mr. Shivakumar said that for lands falling under the BDA’s jurisdiction, the authority would issue the TDR, while for areas under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), the BDA would write to the GBA and complete the process within a few days.

Tapal system

Mr. Shivakumar also inaugurated the Tapal Receiving Section, which has been introduced as a single-point entry system for all incoming letters, grievances, and official communications addressed to the BDA.

Henceforth, complaints received through tapal will be digitised and entered into the e-Office platform. The concerned officer will receive the file directly in their official login for timely action. Citizens will be provided with an e-Office reference number and a unique barcode, enabling them to track the movement and status of their letter online.

“This initiative ensures improved efficiency, reduced manual handling, enhanced monitoring, and complete transparency in grievance redressal and file movement,” the BDA said in a statement.
