The NAIN 2.0 (New Age Innovation Network 2.0) programme is an initiative of the Department of Electronics, IT and BT, Government of Karnataka, implemented through Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and a start-up culture among students.

BLDEA’s SSM College of Pharmacy and Research Centre, Vijayapura has been selected under the NAIN 2.0 (New Age Innovation Network 2.0) programme, an initiative of the Department of Electronics, IT and BT, Government of Karnataka, implemented through Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS), to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and a start-up culture among students.

The college will establish a dedicated Innovation and incubation centre, providing students and faculty with resources, mentorship, and industry linkages to transform ideas into viable startups.

“This will will empower our students to become job creators, contribute to regional development, and strengthen the ecosystem of pharmaceutical research and entrepreneurship,” according to a statement by R. B. Kotnal, director, and C. Mallikarjun Shetty, professor.

The institute is recognised as the only NAAC-A++ accredited pharmacy college in the Kalyana Karnataka region.

The institute houses the AKRUTI (Advanced Knowledge and Rural Technology Implementation) centre, a technology hub established by the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to disseminate and demonstrate societal technologies in rural and urban areas. It functions as a training centre to promote techno-entrepreneurship and empower local communities through spin-off technologies, such as water purification, food processing, and waste management.
