Veteran Tamil producer AVM Saravanan passed away on Thursday morning, December 4, 2025, at the age of 86, after suffering age‑related health issues.

New Delhi:

Veteran producer AVM Saravanan, founder of AVM Productions, passed away on Thursday morning, December 4, 2025, at the age of 86. According to reports, he died due to age-related ailments.

Throughout his career in the film industry, veteran producer AVM Saravanan produced several hit films, including Suriya’s Ayan (2009), Rajinikanth‘s Sivaji (2007), and Arjun Sarja’s Sonthakkaran (1989).

AVM Saravanan passes away at 86

Tamil actor Vidiyal Raju expressed his grief over the producer’s demise by sharing a heartfelt note on his Facebook handle. While sharing AVM Saravanan’s picture, he wrote, “The elegance of simplicity! The birthplace of peace! Please come, sir! You will be born again as the crown prince of Tamil cinema…! I am saddened.”

The note shared by Tamil actor Vidiyal Raju, which includes AVM Saravanan’s funeral details, reads, “For last respects, Floor No. 3, AVM Studios, from 7:30 AM onwards, December 4, 2025.”

Tributes pour in for veteran producer AVM Saravanan

Social media users and industry colleagues have paid their emotional tributes to veteran producer across various platforms. One X user wrote, “Legendary producer AVM productions stalwart Throu.M.Saravanan sir passed away today morning at the age of 86. May his soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to @avmproductions family. #RIP #AVMSaravanan.”

Tamil actor Vishal also penned a heartfelt note on his X handle (formerly Twitter), expressing grief over  AVM Saravanan’s death. He wrote, “Just heard the news that the legendary filmmaker avm Saravanan sir, the film industry’s most iconic producer and the man behind AVM studios just passed away and has left us all forever. My deepest condolences and may his soul rest in peace. Sir, I  remember meeting you as a kid, as an assistant  director, as an actor, as a producer ever since I entered AVM studios which was a learning ground for me to be what I am today in the film industry (sic).”

He further added, “So many memories and every producer used to look up to you for your sincerity and your dedication personified for not just your films but also for the film industry.  I always wanted you and your production house to continue making great films but today we stand to lose another great film personality in Indian film industry. Your memories will always linger in our minds and your films will always be a learning ground for aspiring filmmakers. May God give more strength to his family at this toughest time. RIP (sic).”

Notably, Sivaji producer AVM Saravanan turned 86 on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He passed away just a day later, making the loss even sadder for the Tamil film industry.
