Aster DM Healthcare on Thursday launched its eighth hospital in Kerala with the inauguration of its state-of-the-art multi-specialty facility, Aster MIMS Kasaragod. The 264-bed hospital built at a cost of ₹190 crore was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the presence of Azad Moopen, founder and chairman of Aster DM Healthcare and Karnataka Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao.

In his inaugural address, the Chief Minister said Aster had grown from a single clinic in Dubai into an integrated healthcare network trusted by people in India and the GCC. The same standards of excellence will now benefit the people of Kasaragod as well, he said. Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao said Aster’s presence strengthened the healthcare ecosystem in both Kerala and Karnataka.

Dr. Azad Moopen said the Kasaragod hospital marked a momentous milestone in Aster’s journey. “Our mission has always been to deliver quality healthcare that is affordable and accessible. With this new facility, we are bringing world-class care closer to the people of Northern Kerala,” he said. Aster MIM’s

Spread over 2.1 lakh square feet, the hospital houses 31 medical specialties and employs more than 600 people, including 60 globally trained doctors. It is the first hospital in the region to introduce advanced diagnostic technologies such as 1.5T MRI and 160-Slice CT. The facility also offers specialised services including ECMO/ECL support, advanced cardiac and vascular interventions, and hemadsorption treatment, with a focus on critical care, trauma, stroke, and pediatric emergencies.

The hospital includes 44 ICU beds, 16 NICU beds, 7 major and 2 minor operation theatres and dedicated facilities for chemotherapy and dialysis. It has also set up a 20-bed emergency department with 24/7 ambulance access for rapid intervention.

The launch ceremony was attended by Kasaragod MP Rajmohan Unnithan, MLAs and other public representative and officials
