Liquor sales in Andhra Pradesh recorded a significant increase in December 2025, driven largely by New Year celebrations and the holiday season. Official data show that total liquor sales between December 1 and 31, 2025 touched approximately ₹2,767 crore, marking around 8% growth compared to ₹2,568 crore recorded in December 2024.

The surge was particularly sharp in the last three days of the year. On December 29, 30 and 31 alone, liquor worth about ₹543 crore was sold across the State in 2025, a steep rise from ₹336 crore during the corresponding period in 2024. Officials attribute this spike mainly to New Year festivities, extended holidays and increased consumer spending during year-end celebrations.

District-wise data indicate wide variations in sales. Visakhapatnam district topped the chart with liquor sales of about ₹178.6 crore in December, followed by Tirupati district at around ₹169.4 crore and NTR district with approximately ₹155.4 crore.

At the other end of the spectrum, sales remained relatively low in tribal and less urbanised districts. Alluri Sitarama Raju district recorded liquor sales of about ₹30.7 crore, while Parvathipuram Manyam reported around ₹35.4 crore. Sri Sathya Sai district also saw modest sales, totalling roughly ₹65 crore during the month.

Officials note that December traditionally witnesses higher liquor consumption owing to festivals, weddings and year-end celebrations, but the figures for 2025 underline a sharper uptick compared to the previous year, reflecting changing consumption patterns and festive demand across urban centres.
