PMK president Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday announced that he would be leading the protest against the DMK government for its failure to conduct a caste-wise survey, implement internal reservations for Vanniyars within the Most Backward Classes category and to protect social justice in Chennai on December 17 while postponing the state-wide ‘siege of government offices and fill-the-jails’ protest, announced earlier, to January 29 next year.

Tamil Nadu should have been the first state in India to conduct a caste census. But while two south Indian states have completed it and a third is about to finish, Tamil Nadu remains firm in its stand that the caste census should never be conducted here, he said in a statement.
