PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss strongly condemned thesexual assault of a young woman in front of her mother by two policemen in Yendhal in Tiruvannamalai district and condemned the ’ government for the breakdown in law and order in Tamil Nadu.

In a statement, Dr. Anbumani said that ‘the policemen forcibly took the two women to an isolated place and, in full view of the mother, brutally sexually assaulted the 19-year-old girl and then fled’.

“This incident is proof of how unsafe the environment for women has become under the DMK government. The duty of the police is to protect everyone, including women. But if members of the police themselves threatened and dragged the two women from the truck and carried outsexual assault, it shows how degraded both the police force and law-and-order have become,” he said.

He added, “I had already warned last year that statistics showed that crimes against women and children had increased by 54% after the DMK came to power, and urged the State government to take measures to improve the situation.”
