Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh on Wednesday said legal action would be taken against Telugu Desam Party leader J.C. Prabhakar Reddy for his remarks against Additional SP Rohith Kumar Chowdary. Mr. Jagadeesh called Reddy’s comments “intimidating and defamatory” and said they were unacceptable, adding that Reddy’s firearm licence would be reviewed and action taken as per law.
Mr. Reddy, during the Police Martyrs’ Memorial event on October 21, accused Additional SP Rohith of lacking “wisdom and competence” and claimed the officer “hid at home” during a protest in Tadipatri. Senior police officers said such personal attacks could demoralise officers maintaining law and order.
