Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets under the Amul brand, on Wednesday (May 13, 2026) announced a revision in the prices of fresh milk across major variants and packs in India.

According to the federation, the price of milk has been hiked by ₹2 per litre across India, effective May 14, due to rising input costs. This translates to an increase of around 2.5% to 3.5%, which it said remains lower than the average food inflation rate. The GCMMF noted that this is the first hike in Amul milk prices since May 2025.

The cooperative attributed the increase to rising operational and production costs, including higher expenses on cattle feed, milk packaging film and fuel.

It also stated that member unions have increased the procurement price paid to farmers by ₹30 per kg fat, marking a 3.7% rise compared to May 2025.

The GCMMF said nearly 80 paise of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and milk products is passed on to milk producers. The federation said the latest revision is aimed at ensuring remunerative prices for dairy farmers and encouraging higher milk production.

The revised maximum retail prices (MRPs) for major Amul milk variants in Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Saurashtra and Kutch regions, will be released separately.
