Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all security agencies to remain alert and continue to work in synergy to ensure that the gains achieved after the dilution of Article 370 are sustained and the goal of “terror-free Jammu and Kashmir” is achieved at the earliest.

Mr. Shah chaired a meeting to review the security situation in J&K on Thursday (January 8, 2026). The meeting was attended by Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant-Governor of J&K; Govind Mohan, Union Home Secretary; Tapan Kumar Deka, Director, Intelligence Bureau; Atal Dullu, Chief Secretary, J&K; Nalin Prabhat, Director-General of Police, J&K; heads of Central Armed Police Forces; and other senior officers.

He said that the Centre was committed to establish lasting peace in J&K and completely eliminate terrorism. Reiterating the zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, Mr. Shah said that due to sustained and coordinated efforts of the Narendra Modi government, the terror ecosystem in J&K was crippled.

He appreciated the efforts of the security agencies in strengthening the security scenario of J&K. He stated that Counter Terror (CT) operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and terror financing in a mission mode should be continued.

Mr. Shah assured that all the resources will be made available in this endeavour, a government statement said.
