After the massive victory of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the Bihar Assembly election, the coalition began the process of government formation with a series of meetings on Friday (November 14, 2025). The NDA had won 202 of the 243 Assembly constituencies in the election.

Janata Dal (United) working president Sanjay Jha met senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi, while fellow BJP leaders Dharmendra Pradhan and Vinod Tawde, who were given responsibility for the Bihar election, met Mr. Shah in the national capital to discuss strategy ahead of government formation.

The BJP, JD(U), and their allies have asked all their MLAs to assemble in Patna. A senior BJP leader, requesting anonymity, said the next three to four days could see all formalities completed, including the formal announcement of the Chief Minister nominee.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar too remained busy as he met winning candidates and other leaders. Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan was among those who met Mr. Kumar at his official residence to congratulate him over the victory.

“The NDA, led by Nitish Kumarji, has achieved a historic victory, so our party delegation has come to congratulate him. Those trying to sow confusion between the LJP(RV) and JD(U) are merely trying to set a false narrative. This historic victory could not have been achieved without the sincere support of all parties,” Mr. Paswan said.

Earlier, Mr. Paswan had informed that Govindganj MLA-elect Raju Tiwari has been elected as the party’s legislative party leader in the Assembly. The party has won 19 MLAs.

Before going to Delhi, Mr. Jha met Mr. Kumar at his residence in Patna. JD(U) leader Shyam Rajak, who won the election from Phulwari Sharif in Patna district, also met Mr. Kumar.

When the media asked him about the chief ministerial candidate of the NDA, Mr. Rajak said there was “no candidate” other than Mr. Kumar.

He also asserted that there was no vacancy for Chief Minister post in Bihar.

In the NDA camp, the BJP had emerged as the single largest party in the election by winning 89 seats, followed by the JD(U) with 85 seats; Mr. Paswan’s LJP(RV) with 19 seats; the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi with 5 seats; and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha led by Upendra Kushwaha with 4 seats.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagatbandhan  crumbled to a mere 35 seats, with the RJD winning 25, Congress 6, Left parties 3 and the Indian Inclusive Party (IIP) of I.P. Gupta 1.

More than 24 hours since election results were released, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav was yet to react over the debacle.

However, RJD in its first reaction posted a message on its official ‘X’ handle stating, “Public service is an unceasing process, an endless journey! Ups and downs are inevitable in it. No sorrow in defeat, no arrogance in victory! The Rashtriya Janata Dal is the party of the poor, it will continue to raise their voice among the poor!”
