The Andhra Pradesh Legislature’s Budget session will commence at 10 a.m. on February 11 with Governor S. Abdul Nazeer addressing the joint session of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council at the Assembly Hall in Velagapudi, Amaravati. Following the Governor’s address, both Houses will take up a discussion on the motion of thanks.

Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav is scheduled to present the second full Budget of the NDA government during the session. The government will also place before the House several recent policy decisions for discussion.

According to leaders of the ruling Telugu Desam Party, the session will witness deliberations on the progress of key irrigation projects, including Polavaram and Velogonda. They said allegations of corruption in the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation project would be raised through a short-duration discussion.

The TDP has finalised around 20 agenda points for short discussions in the House. These include the implementation of the party’s election promise Super Six, the ongoing controversy over alleged adulterated ghee supplied to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, land-related allegations, the status of land reforms, assigned lands and issues concerning Pattadar Passbooks.

Government sources said the progress of Amaravati as the capital city, the proposed expansion of its jurisdiction under Land Pooling Scheme 2.0, and developments in the industrial sector would also come up for discussion. Outcomes of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s recent visit to the World Economic Forum in Davos are expected to be highlighted.

Meanwhile, NDA leaders indicated that they would seek to hold the YSR Congress Party accountable for the attendance of its members during the session.

In a statement issued on Monday, Legislative Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu announced that students from schools, colleges and other educational institutions across the State would be allowed to watch the Assembly proceedings live from the visitors’ gallery. He said the initiative was aimed at creating awareness about the functioning of the Legislature while reinforcing accountability and transparency in governance.
