In the wake of a recent fire incident, Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC) Chairperson and Managing Director D. Lakshmi Parthasarathi has directed officials to strengthen safety measures at camp sites of contractors engaged in construction works in the capital region of Amaravati.

The orders were issued after a fire broke out in a trolley lorry at the RVR camp site in Thullur on Sunday (April 05). Ms. Lakshmi Parthasarathi inspected the accident site on Monday (April 06) along with officials and reviewed the circumstances leading to the incident.

During the inspection, she questioned the contractors as to why the trolley lorry, which had transported machinery for RVR works, was not moved out immediately after unloading. Expressing displeasure over the lack of basic safety measures at contractors’ camp sites, she observed that such lapses were contributing to unforeseen incidents.

She also pointed out that the absence of adequate security personnel at the sites was a major concern and stressed the need for deploying competent guards. Emphasising surveillance, she instructed that all camp sites must be brought under the monitoring of CCTV cameras.

The ADC chief directed Chief Engineers B. Narasimha Murthy and CH. Dhanunjaya to ensure continuous monitoring of safety protocols, particularly during the summer season. She further instructed officials to mandate the installation of high-capacity water motors at camp sites to effectively prevent and respond to fire hazards.

Reiterating the importance of proactive safety management, she called upon contractor agencies to strictly adhere to prescribed norms to avoid any recurrence of such incidents.
