TDP National President and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu addressing the TDPP meeting, at his camp office on Sunday.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said in the Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party (TDPP) meeting held at his camp office on Sunday that the Bill for securing legal sanctity to Amaravati as the capital of Andhra Pradesh would be introduced in the Budget session of Parliament beginning January 28.
Mr. Naidu directed the MPs to make efforts for development of the State by mobilising additional funds from the Centre, and advised them to focus on development opportunities and resolution of issues in their constituencies.
Priority should be given to getting special packages sanctioned for the development of North Andhra districts and Rayalaseema region, the Purvodaya scheme, and the Polavaram–Nallamala Sagar projects.
Mr. Naidu said revised estimates had been submitted for the Polavaram project, and that a sum of ₹12,000 crore was yet to be received from the Centre.
As regards the irrigation projects to which objections were raised by Telangana, the Chief Minister told the MPs not to pick up conflicts, but put forth effective arguments so that the Centre would consider giving necessary clearances.
He wanted the fact that Andhra Pradesh did not confront Telangana on the construction of Kaleshwaram and Manjira water diversion projects to be duly highlighted.
On the political front, Mr. Naidu said the MPs should refrain from acting in a manner that would be detrimental to the alliance with the BJP and the Jana Sena Party, and the achievement of their common objectives.
Speaking to media persons later, TDPP leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu said the ‘Amaravati Bill’ was aimed at ending the confusion created by the YSR Congress Party in 2019-24, by facilitating the issue of a gazette notification, thereby giving a guarantee for the institutions being set up and investments made.
The State government furnished all relevant information pertaining to the proposed formal declaration of Amaravati, to the Central Ministries concerned and the NITI Aayog, Mr. Krishna Devarayalu stated, expressing confidence that the Bill would be approved.
