The BJP on Friday pulled Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s leg in the Assembly over the purported pact related to transfer of power to Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar.
When Mr. Siddaramaiah repeatedly asserted that his government had implemented most of the poll promises unlike the erstwhile BJP government, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok remarked, “You have implemented most of the promises, but what about the promise made to D.K. Shivakumar [on power sharing].”
The Chief Minister desisted from commenting on it immediately, but sometime later, he maintained that there was no pact or understanding on curtailing his term.
Milk incentive will be hiked: CM
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the government would increase the incentive being given to milk producers from the present ₹5 a litre to ₹7 as listed in the Congress’s pre-poll manifesto.
“We will increase the incentive to ₹7 soon,” he said, without specifying any date while replying to the debate on North Karnataka in the Legislative Assembly. He said the government was paying an incentive of ₹5 crore per day.
He accused the erstwhile BJP government of keeping the incentive to the tune of ₹630 crore pending, and said his government had cleared the dues.
