Former Revenue Minister and AIADMK leader R. B. Udhaya Kumar expressed hope on Saturday (May 9, 2026) that positive developments concerning his party would take place.

Emerging from his meeting with former Law Minister C. V. Shanmugam at his residence in Chennai, Mr. Kumar told journalists, “Be patient.”

The journalists asked him about the meeting that Mr. Shanmugam had with his followers and supporters.

A large number of MLAs from the party reportedly attended. There were reports that the former Law Minister had developed differences with the party’s general secretary, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, on issues such as the approach towards the incoming government of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the possibility of any alliance with the traditional rival, the DMK.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Palaniswami held a meeting with all the legislators and office-bearers of the party.
