The Atal Bridge across the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad has drawn more than 77.71 lakh visitors since its inauguration, generating ₹27.70 crore in revenue for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) over three years, according to data released by the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. (SRFDCL).

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2022, the ₹74-crore Atal Foot Over Bridge has become one of the city’s most visited attractions. The bridge continues to attract visitors from across India and abroad, especially during festivals and holiday seasons.

Between April and October 2025, the bridge received 8.51 lakh visitors and collected ₹4.82 crore in revenue. From August 2022 to October 2025, the total footfall reached 77,71,269, reflecting its growing popularity among tourists and residents, officials.

The AMC has already recovered nearly 37% of the project’s cost through tourism revenue, as the SRFDCL continues to manage the bridge’s operations and maintenance, they said.

From August 31, 2022, to March 2023, the bridge recorded 21.62 lakh visitors and ₹6.44 crore in revenue, officials said. “Between April 2023 and March 2024, 26.89 lakh people visited, contributing ₹8.24 crore. The following year, April 2024 to March 2025, saw 20.67 lakh visitors and ₹8.19 crore in earnings. In the ongoing financial year (April to October 2025), 8.51 lakh visitors generated ₹4.82 crore,” they said.

“Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has strengthened the focus on urban tourism while preserving heritage landmarks. Tourist spots such as Gandhi Ashram, Sabarmati Riverfront, Kankaria Lake, Narendra Modi Stadium, the Heritage Walk, and the city’s traditional Pols continue to enhance Ahmedabad’s identity as a blend of heritage and modernity,” officials said.
