After the terror attack in Pahalgam last year, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security forces returned to the jungles. From training personnel in jungle warfare to establishing temporary operating bases in the upper reaches at altitudes up to 7,000 feet, the J&K police and Central security forces reoriented their approach to track down terrorist modules, a senior government official told The Hindu.

The ghastly terror attack on April 22, 2025, at Baisaran meadow, which left 26 people dead, mostly tourists, led to a complete overhaul of the security grid in the Kashmir Valley as well as the Jammu region. The Valley had not seen an attack of this scale on tourists in nearly a decade.
