The Bangalore Theatre Collective will stage Love Letters – Ninna Preethiya,Naanu, a Kannada adaptation of Love Letters, written by A.R. Gurney, at Kuvempu Ranga Mandira in Shivamogga on March 22 at 7 p.m.

Venkatesh Prasad, who translated the play into Kannada, adapted it for the stage, and directed it, announced during a press conference in Shivamogga on Tuesday that actors Kishor Kumar and Siri Ravikumar will perform in the production. “The play has been translated into Kannada, allowing for creative liberty to make it convincing for the local audience. To date, it has had 20 successful performances,” he said. In the story, two lovers read their love letters composed over three to four decades, reflecting on their shared journey.

Actor Kishor Kumar, joining the press conference online, said that it was a pleasant experience to act in the play. “Theatre is a highly influential medium, which has remained independent of capitalist forces. The medium offers space to express what we genuinely feel, with no restrictions. I wish to involve myself in theatre, though it is difficult for those in the film industry to make time for both for technical reasons,” he stated. Siri Ravikumar, the other actor in the play, also interacted with the media online.
