The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has secured two days’ custody of suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police Sankireddy Bheem Reddy for questioning in the disproportionate assets case against him. The court has permitted the agency to question him on August 13 and 14.

The ACB arrested Bheem Reddy, a Deputy Superintendent of Police with Police Computer Services, on July 6, four days after conducting searches at 16 locations linked to him, his relatives, associates and alleged benamidars across Telangana and Karnataka. He was taken into custody from his residence at Vessella Meadows, Ibrahimgagh, at around 7.40 p.m. The searches allegedly yielded documents relating to multiple properties, ₹3.6 lakh in cash from his residence, another ₹40 lakh from the house of an alleged benamidar, around 2 kg of gold, 20 kg of silver and bank balances of nearly ₹19.91 lakh.

The ACB has alleged that Bheem Reddy, who joined government service in 1995, accumulated assets worth more than ₹9 crore disproportionate to his known sources of income. The agency is also examining alleged benami properties, including around 47 acres of agricultural land in Zaheerabad, besides other properties. According to the ACB, the market value of the properties could be around ₹150 crore if the alleged benami assets are included.

Bheem Reddy has denied the allegations and claimed that several properties attributed to him actually belonged to third parties.

During the two-day custody, the ACB is expected to question Bheem Reddy about the properties, financial transactions and alleged benami holdings and confront him with evidence gathered during the searches.
