A 17-year-old student was killed after he allegedly jumped off his school building at Pulakeshi Nagar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Aaryn Moses Vyas, a Class 12 science student at a private school in Richards Town.

According to the police, he came to the school at 8.10 a.m., went to the second floor around 8.20 a.m., and then jumped off. The CCTV footage has recorded the incident, which is being verified by the police .

He was rushed to a private hospital and shifted to another, where he succumbed to injuries.

The Pulakeshi Nagar Police have registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are probing further to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step.

Hours later, the school issued a communication to parents and confirmed the death, saying that the institution would remain closed on Tuesday as a mark of respect to the student’s memory.

“We understand that this news may be deeply distressing. Counsellors will be available on campus to support students and staff as they process their emotions and grief,” the communication stated .

According to the school management, Aaryn was not only an exceptional student but a gifted sportsperson who represented the school at the national level and took part in several international competitions.
