Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu  is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (October 13) to personally invite him to two key upcoming State events — the ‘Super GST – Super Savings’ programme in Kurnool and the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam on November 14-15. The Kurnool event will highlight joint Centre–State initiatives for fiscal efficiency under next-generation GST reforms, while the CII Summit will showcase Andhra Pradesh’s growing potential for global investment and innovation.

On October 14, the Chief Minister will participate in a  memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between the government of Andhra Pradesh and Google at Hotel Taj Mansingh, New Delhi. The agreement involves the establishment of Asia’s first 1-gigawatt hyperscale data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, representing an investment of nearly USD 10 billion (₹84,000 crore).

The project will serve as the cornerstone of the ambitious “AI City Vizag” initiative, combining cutting-edge AI infrastructure, data capacity, renewable energy integration, and global fiber-optic connectivity. The facility will link directly with Google’s global network through resilient subsea and terrestrial systems, positioning Visakhapatnam as a key node in India’s digital future.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will attend the signing ceremony, along with Google’s top global executives, including Thomas Kurian (CEO, Google Cloud), Bikash Koley (vice-president, Global Infrastructure), and Karan Bajwa (president, Asia Pacific Google Cloud).

Speaking ahead of the event, Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh described the project as “a transformative step for the future of Andhra Pradesh and a defining moment in India’s AI-driven growth.”

According to State estimates, the Vizag data centre project is expected to contribute an average of ₹10,518 crore annually to Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between 2028 and 2032, while supporting nearly 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs each year. The initiative will also generate productivity spillovers valued at ₹47,720 crore over five years, driven by Google Cloud’s ecosystem.

The project has been approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) chaired by the Chief Minister and will be facilitated through single-window clearances, renewable energy integration, and plug-and-play infrastructure managed by the Economic Development Board and the Department of ITE&C.
