Burglars decamped with high-end smartphones, mostly iPhones, from a private mobile phone outlet at Arakkonam town in Ranipet on Saturday.

Police said it was around 3.30 a.m. when a few burglars broke the main steel shutters of the outlet, which is located in the bazaar area of the town, to break-in into the outlet. The CCTV cameras captured the incident. Technical staff, who were monitoring CCTV footage from the Chennai office of the outlet, alerted staff of the outlet in Arakkonam.

Immediately, they informed Arakkonam Town police. Along with police, staff of the shop rushed to the outlet and found that around 30 smartphones were stolen from display panels. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were roped-in as part of the investigation. A case was registered by Arakkonam Town police and further probe is under way.
