Malayalam filmmaker Sanal Kumar Sasidharan was granted bail in a case relating to alleged online harassment and stalking of a popular woman actor. The Aluva Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court granted him bail after he was produced before the magistrate around 1 a.m. on Tuesday (September 9, 2025).

“The accused has been charged under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) which deals with the offence of stalking. He was granted conditional bail in the early hours and he completed the procedures on later on Tuesday,” an officer with the Elamakkara police station said.

The officer said the director will be called for questioning if needed.

The police produced him before the court after bringing him to Kochi from Mumbai where he was detained at the airport on arrival from the U.S. based on a lookout circular issued against him in January, when the case was registered.

He was arrested by the Kochi police on charges of stalking the same actor in May 2022 and granted bail later.
