A 34-year-old security guard was found dead under mysterious circumstances with multiple gunshot injuries at the residential quarters of Dr. Ambedkar Medical College in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Lakhan Vishwakarma, a native of Bihar, who had been working at Dr. Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital for the past one and a half months. He was sharing the residential quarters with his colleague and friend Ranjan.

Police said the incident occurred on Sunday night, when Vishwakarma was allegedly found dead with two gunshot wounds, believed to be from a double-barrel gun, inside the quarters allotted to him.

Ranjan, who found Vishwakarma lying in a pool of blood, informed the police about the incident on Monday morning.

The DJ Halli police have registered a case of mysterious death and sent the body for post mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
