The A.P. Government Doctors’ Association (APGDA) has demanded the immediate release of pending salaries for teaching doctors working in government medical colleges without further delay.

At the State-level conference organised by the APGDA in Vijayawada on Saturday, the association State president D. Jayadheer Babu and general secretary B. Ramesh Kumar urged the government to implement the 2016 University Grants Commission (UGC) pay revision.

A.P. JAC Amaravati State chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu said government doctors played a crucial role in protecting public health and the government had a responsibility to safeguard their financial and service-related benefits. He assured the gathering that the doctors’ grievances would be brought to the government’s attention.

MLC Allapati Rajendra Prasad said the demands raised by teaching doctors were justified and assured that he would take up their concerns with the Chief Minister and work towards resolving them through discussions.

Several representatives of employee, teacher and pensioners’ organisations attended the conference.
