Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and social activist Amitabh Thakur on Wednesday (September 16, 2026) demanded that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust place key records relating to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) selection process on its official website and sought disclosure of the relevant records relating to interview attendance, candidate-wise evaluation records, among others, in the interest of transparency and public confidence.

“In its press statement dated 14 September, the Trust stated that every stage of the selection process had been documented. I therefore sought disclosure of the relevant records in the interest of transparency and public confidence. In my letter to the Trust dated September 16, I specifically requested the Trust to make available the approved list of the final 16 candidates and records relating to their interview attendance, candidate-wise evaluation records, the relevant portion of the Search Committee’s report and recommendations dated 1 September, and the comparative basis for selection/recommendation of the final three names,” he told The Hindu in Lucknow.

Mr. Thakur, a former 1992-batch IPS officer, has also requested preservation of all original records relating to the selection process.
