The Karimnagar Two-Town police on Tuesday busted a fake recruitment racket by arresting its alleged kingpin, Dudapaka Thirupathi, 51, of Ippalapalli village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, near Satavahana University in Karimnagar.

According to police, Thirupathi and his associates allegedly collected around ₹44 lakh from 21 job seekers by promising to secure outsourcing jobs in the BC Welfare Department and other government institutions.

Police said Thirupathi allegedly posed as a Botany professor at Satavahana University and cheated P. Mamatha of Karimnagar of ₹ 1.50 lakh by promising an outsourcing job for her daughter. He later issued a ‘forged appointment order’.

Following a complaint from Mamatha, a police team arrested Thirupathi after an investigation. Efforts were on to nab the remaining seven accused, police said.
