The Rayalaseema Rashtra Samithi has urged the Central and State governments to address the long-standing issues like backwardness, drought, unemployment, and farmers’ suicides concerning the region.
The samithi’s plenary was held under the leadership of its national president Kuncham Venkatasubba Reddy at the NGO’s Home in Anantapur on Saturday. Addressing a public meeting later, he said despite numerous changes in Central and State governments, the lives of the people of Rayalaseema remain unchanged.
“A State must be treated equitably across all regions and development should not be limited to just one preferred area,” he said, and alleged that funds, industries, central offices, and bank headquarters that rightfully belong to Rayalaseema were being diverted to coastal Andhra.
He alleged that public representatives from Rayalaseema remain completely indifferent and unmoved even as the people of the region are deprived of their rights. He urged the people’s representatives from the region to fight for the rightsof the region.
He said the samithi had been relentlessly fighting for decades on behalf of the people of Rayalaseema for surplus water rights, for due share of jobs and industries, and for the resolution of various other issues.
Mr. Venkatasubba Reddy said the samithi will intensify its engagement with the public and fight for the people’s issues. “Our primary objective is to take the resolutions and issues discussed here to the masses, to every village and every doorstep, explaining the injustice we face and the immense benefits of a separate Rayalaseema state awakening the people and fostering awareness,” he said.
