Uttar Pradesh aspirants waiting merit list plans protest outside recruitment board, flags prolong delay

Candidates of Village Panchayat Officer (VPO) examination who are waiting for the final merit list, announced on Friday (August 14, 2026) of organising an indefinite protest outside Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Service Selection Commission (UPSSSC) from August 17, if the merit list is not released and questioned the commission for the delay.

“Our final merit list/result of Village Panchayat Officer (VPO) is pending since roughly three months, the prolonged delay is adversely impacting our lives, hence we decided again to meet the authorities at UPSSSC, and start our indefinite protest outside the recruitment board office from August 17, the poster has been circulated among shortlisted candidates,” said Ravi Pandey, an aspirant shortlisted in mains examination. He added, candidates are in touch with each other through social media applications. Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch, a Prayagraj based outfit of competitive government recruitment examination aspirants, also extended support to the candidates.

“We will hold the Commission accountable, this prolonged delay is a criminal act as precious years of young people are getting wasted, every job aspirant in U.P. Stands with VPO candidates, the Board and government is playing with lives of young people,” added Pankaj Pandey, who is associated with Sanyukt Pratiyogi Chhatra Hunkar Manch.

Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) is recruitment agency entrusted for direct recruitment to all such group C and D posts as may be specified by the State Government by notification. Village Panchayat Officer (VPO) for 1,468 posts were notified on May 16, 2023 by the UPSSSC. Candidates roughly 40 times the available vacancy are shortlisted for VPO Mains examination based on Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) score.
