The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park (IGZP), Visakhapatnam, will organise a drawing competition on Sunday (August 9, 2026) as part of the observance of World Elephant Day (August 12). The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Zoo Bioscope on the zoo premises.
The competition has been divided into three categories. The theme for students of Classes I to V is ‘My Elephant and Its Keeper’. Participants from Classes VI to X will draw on the theme ‘Elephant: India’s National Heritage Animal, Protecting Wildlife, Preserving Heritage’. The topic for Intermediate to postgraduate students is ‘Human-Elephant Coexistence: Challenges, Innovations and Sustainable Solutions’.

Drawing sheets will be provided by the organisers, and participants have been asked to bring their own drawing materials. Participation certificates will be issued to all contestants. More details are available from the Zoo Education Officer.
