Heavy rains lashed several districts of Telangana on Wednesday (July 29, 2026) with parts of Mulugu, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mancherial and Karimnagar recording intense rainfall between 8.30 a.m. and 3 p.m., prompting authorities to step up flood monitoring and issue public advisories.
According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 3 p.m., Eturunagaram in Mulugu district recorded the highest rainfall in the State at 122.8 mm followed by 115.3 mm in Wazeed (Mulugu), 100.8 mm in Kannaigudem (Mulugu), 92.8 mm in Kunaram (Peddapalli), 92.3 mm in Mutharam Mahadevpur (Jayashankar Bhupalpally), 82.3 mm in Jaipur (Mancherial) and 76.5 mm in Gundi (Karimnagar).
Mulugu district
Mulugu district Collector B. Hemant Sahadeorao inspected the flood-damaged diversion road across the Isuka Vagu between Cheekupalli and Peddagollagudem villages in Wajedu mandal after heavy overnight rain washed away the temporary approach road laid beside a bridge under construction. The damage led to the temporary suspension of vehicular movement on National Highway 163, which connects Telangana with Chhattisgarh.
The Collector directed officials to restore the alternative route as soon as floodwaters recede and instructed all departments to remain on high alert, as heavy rainfall has been forecast in the district over the next three days.
Jagtial district
Meanwhile, district administrations in other rain-hit regions also issued advisories to residents. Jagtial District Collector B. Satya Prasad urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during the spell of heavy rainfall. He said the district administration was fully prepared to respond to any emergencies and had established a 24-hour control room at the Collectorate to coordinate relief measures and provide immediate assistance.
The Collector advised residents, particularly those living in low-lying areas, to exercise caution and avoid venturing near streams, rivulets and ponds, where water levels could rise rapidly due to continuous rainfall. He appealed to the public to report rain-related emergencies to the district control room by calling 7989193131, assuring that officials would respond promptly.
No significant rain in Hyderabad
In contrast to the widespread rainfall across Telangana, Hyderabad remained largely dry through the afternoon, with no significant rainfall reported in the city till 3 p.m.
