The Telangana High Court on Wednesday ordered status quo over some lands in Bahadurguda village of Shamshabad in Rangareddy district, after hearing two writ petitions filed by persons claiming as owners of the property.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the HC, observing that some serious disputed questions of title and possessions are involved in these two writ petitions, instructed the authorities to maintain status quo with regard to the structures in the subject property/lands under further orders. The judge also said due process of the law should be followed if any action was to be taken in the matter.

The counsels of the petitioners contended that officials of the Revenue, the HYDRAA and the police entered the lands of the petitioners and tried to dispossess them and dismantled their structures recently. While one petition was filed by 85 farmers owning lands in survey numbers 28 and 62, the second one was filed by Anil Kumar Dundoo, C. Anusha Reddy and M/sk Mustang Infra Projects Private Limited having lands in survey numbers 37 to 42 and 54 of the same village.

In another writ petition filed by Jakkidi Yadi Reddy and three others, the judge directed the HYDRAA authorities not to take any coercive steps against the petitioners over 26 acts of land in the same village under survey number 335. The three pleas were adjourned to August 11 for next hearing.

Feeding pigeons

In a separate matter, a division bench headed by Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh directed the authorities to file a counter affidavit in a Public Interest Litigation petition seeking direction to regulate unauthorised feeding of pigeons at public places and launch an awareness campaign to educate people about harmful effects of feeding pigeons. The plea was filed by doctor Radheshyam Tapadia of Musheerabad.
