Thousands of people participated in a run and a cycling ride organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations in Vijayawada on Sunday (February 08) as part of the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sk. Shereen Begum flagged off the run and ride event, aimed at promoting unity and supporting the Fit India Movement, according to a press release. Ms. Shereen Begum said the event reflected the message of unity and collective responsibility in society.

Congratulating the participants, she urged them to uphold the values of love, compassion, and selfless service and follow the preachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. She appreciated the Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations for conducting programmes that help the youth understand the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

Later, Ms. Shereen Begum and Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations State president R. Lakshmana Rao carried The Torch of Peace, which was launched by President Droupadi Murmu at Puttaparthi on November 22, 2025.

Several State and district office-bearers, Sevadal volunteers, youth members, and women participants took part in the programme, making it a grand celebration of unity and service.
