Overcoming the cheap allegations by the opposition parties that Group-I jobs were sold for crores and legal hurdles created, the Congress government’s entire focus was on seeing the hardworking youngsters get their jobs, said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
“Just as Arjuna could see only the eye of the fish, I could see only your future. Despite conspiracies and malicious propaganda, we stood firm for your future,” the Chief Minister said while distributing appointment letters to candidates selected in the Group-1 services on Saturday.
Addressing the newly appointed officers, Mr. Reddy struck an emotional chord, recalling the struggles and sacrifices that went into achieving statehood, and stressed that the responsibility of shaping the State’s future now rests in their hands. He said the spirit and consciousness of Telangana must be safeguarded by the officers.
Mr. Revanth Reddy accused the previous regime of betraying the very spirit of the statehood movement.
“For ten years, no Group-1 examinations were conducted. The Public Service Commission saw scandals and even question papers appeared in photocopy shops. Those who were trusted with responsibility became betrayers of Telangana’s youth,” he charged.
Recalling the sacrifices of people like Srikanthachary, Yadayya, and Ishan Reddy during the movement, he said the previous government had insulted their legacy. “When we came to power, we cleansed the Public Service Commission and ensured that examinations were conducted transparently,” he said, drawing applause from the gathering.
Mr. Reddy asked the newly appointed officers to assist the government with all sincerity and honesty in the administration. “Your parents have toiled for your success; it is now your duty to take care of them. If any officer neglects their parents, 10% of their salary will be deducted and deposited into their parents’ accounts,” he warned.
Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said it’s a pride that there is no instance in 40 years of such large-scale recruitment by the PSC. The previous rulers mocked the unemployed youth and tried their best to stall the recruitments. Despite that Congress filled the 60,000 posts, he argued.
