In shocking incident, which has come to light belatedly, a tourist from Vijayapura suffered multiple fractures after he fell during a zipline ride at a resort in Dandeli in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka.

The mishap occurred on July 3, when Kuber Surapur from Vijayapura was holidaying in Sterling Rover Resort of Dandeli.

In the video that was captured by his brother on his mobile, which has subsequently gone viral, Kuber is seen falling from a height of around 40 feet after the safety equipment on the zipline snapped. He suffered multiple fractures and, after initial treatment at Dandeli, was shifted to a private hospital in Vijayapura for treatment. Subsequently, he has undergone surgeries at a hospital in Miraj, according to sources.

The family members have termed it a case of negligence on the part of the resort management. The accident could have been prevented if there had been regular checks of the safety mechanism. They have also accused the resort management of not keeping up their earlier assurance of bearing medical expenses.

Confirming the incident, however, the management has clarified that it was an accident and they had followed all the safety protocols. The management has told mediapersons that they would soon meet the family to address their concerns.

No complaint has been filed with the police yet.
