TDPP seeks legislation to sternly deal with social media abuse

TDP Parliamentary Party (TDPP) leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu told the media after an all-party meeting on the Monsoon Session of Parliament chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Sunday that he requested the Central government to allow a debate on social media abuse and also bring a law to sternly deal with the mischief mongers.

Besides, he sought a Central financial assistance of ₹60,000 crore for the irrigation projects.

Further, Mr. Krishna Devarayalu appealed to the Centre to take stringent action against those doing illegal transfer of funds through mule accounts and to curb the growing menace of shell companies and cyber frauds.

He said the TDPP raised several national and State issues at the all-party meeting, and pressed for steps to expedite linking of the Godavari and Penna rivers.

Mr. Krishna Devarayalu said he took the issue of a steep rise in the prices of shrimp feed caused by the turmoil in West Asia and the resultant burden on the aqua farmers, and the problems faced by the tobacco growers to the Central government’s notice.

He then requested the Centre to extend all possible support for the development of Rayalaseema as a horticulture hub.

The TDPP leader informed the all-party meeting that the Andhra Pradesh government had set for itself a target of completing the first phase of the Polavaram irrigation project by March 2027 and 36 irrigation projects by 2029.

He hoped that the opposition parties would throw their weight behind the Women’s Reservation and some other key Bills, while stating that the YSR Congress Party’s attempts to once again stall the construction of the capital Amaravati would be duly highlighted in the Parliament.
