A 38-year-old man was arrested by the Mirchowk Police for possessing and selling fake educational certificates intended for job seekers planning to work abroad. Fifteen forged certificates, a mobile phone and a scooter were seized during the operation.

The accused, identified as Abdul Rashed Khan, a businessman from Chandrayangutta, was arrested at the Etebar Chowk on Wednesday while carrying fake educational certificates. Police said two of his associates are absconding and efforts are under way to trace and arrest them.

During the search, police seized 15 forged educational certificates purportedly issued by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Tamil Nadu and the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education. The seized documents included Bachelor of Physiotherapy and B.Sc. degree certificates, provisional certificates and grade cards.

Police said the accused’s motive was to make quick profits by selling fake educational certificates to people seeking employment opportunities abroad.

A case has been booked and further investigation is under way.
