A 15-month-old girl died after allegedly falling into an open water tank while playing outside her house in Ghatkesar on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Nynika, was playing in front of her residence near Shivareddyguda in Ghatkesar at the time of the incident.

Ghatkesar Police registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

According to a complaint lodged by her father, Sampangi Mahesh, a daily wage labourer, family members were at home at the time of the incident. At around 2.45 p.m., a relative went to a washroom and approached an open water tank to fetch water. He then noticed the toddler floating in the water.

The child was rushed to the government hospital in Ghatkesar, where doctors declared her brought dead.
